Academic Report: A cloud report by Prof. Feng Zhang from Nagoya Institute of Technology

On July 21, 2020, the “Innovation Base of Earthquake Engineering Comprehensive Simulation” held the 18th “Cloud Report” and invited Feng Zhang from Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan, to present a report named “Influence of acidic/thermal environment on mechanical behavior of cement-treated Masado and its modeling with thermo-elastoviscoplastic model”.

This report was hosted by Associate Prof. Jie Xu, School of Civil Engineering. Prof. Mingjing Jiang, Vice dean of School of Civil Engineering, attended the report and delivered a welcome speech.

In the report, Prof. Feng Zhang introduced a systematic tests program using uniaxial and triaxial tests under different conditions of acid, temperature and confining pressure was conducted. Based on the test results, a thermo-elastoviscoplastic model is proposed to describe properly the influence of acidic/thermal environment on the mechanical behavior CMT. The applicability of the proposed model is verified by the triaxial compression and creep tests.

The audience at the meeting had a deeper understanding of this project. After the report, Prof. Feng Zhang and the audience conducted an online discussion on related issues and took a group photo.

This “Cloud Report” attracted a total of 141 teachers and students from Tianjin University, Zhejiang University, Tongji University, etc. They all responded enthusiastically to the report.
