On June 29, 2020, the “Innovation Base of Earthquake Engineering Comprehensive Simulation” held the 14th “Cloud Report” and invited Dr. Jeff Wang from City University of Hong Kong, to present a report named “15 years’ advances in DEM modeling of granular soils”.
This report was hosted by Associate Prof. Jie Xu, School of Civil Engineering. Prof. Mingjing Jiang, Vice dean of School of Civil Engineering, attended the report and delivered a welcome speech.
In the report, Dr. Jeff Wang first explained the background of research. Then he introduced the basic DEM modeling, and mainly explained the Micro-CT-based DEM modeling. The audience at the meeting had a deeper understanding of the DEM modeling of granular soils. After the report, Dr. Jeff Wang and the audience conducted an online discussion on related issues and took a group photo.
This “Cloud Report” attracted a total of 185 teachers and students from Tianjin University and other universities. They all responded enthusiastically to the report.
