On September 4, 2020, the “Innovation Base of Earthquake Engineering Comprehensive Simulation” held a “Cloud Report”, and invited Prof. Zongjin Li, Chair professor at University of Macau, to present a report named “Applications of physics in new material technique development for civil engineering”.
Associate Prof. Jie Xu from the School of Civil Engineering hosted the report. Associate Prof. Jinrui Zhang of School of Civil Engineering, who invited Prof. Zongjin Li to present this report, delivered a welcome speech.
By way of an online classroom, Prof. Zongjin Li gave a review of the application in physics in developing new materials technology in civil engineering. The talk includes the application of quantum mechanics in developing model structure of the concrete hydration products, application of wave refraction theory in developing reflective inorganic heat insulation coating materials, etc.
The audience at the meeting learnt about how physical theories are applied to materials of Civil Engineering. After the report, Prof. Zongjin Li and the audience conducted an online discussion on related issues.
A total of 59 teachers and students from Tianjin University participated this “Cloud Report”, including 5 teachers, 38 graduate students, 4 international students and 12 undergraduate students. After the report, Prof. Zongjin Li and the audience took an online group photo.
